$45,451 to $51,132 Starting Salary Depending on Experience and Qualifications The Town of Oro Valley Water Utility seeks a highly motivated, hard-working dependable results driven individual with a strong water distribution systems background to work in the Water Distribution Department. The successful candidate will report to the Water Operations Supervisor and be expected to work collaboratively with other water operations staff. Under close supervision of the Water Operations Supervisor, operates, maintains, services and repairs the water distribution system and related components.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Documents distribution activities. Performs bluestaking and preventative maintenance on water distribution system. Researches, resolves and responds to customer inquiries. Assists in the installation of water distribution components including water mains, fire hydrants, meters and valves. Maintains, services and repairs water distribution system components including water mains, ARV/PRV equipment, fire hydrants, valve exercising and water metering equipment. Operates heavy equipment including backhoe, loader and dump truck. Provides assistance to meter operations team.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written communication. Ability to create and maintain accurate and applicable reports and records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of and skill in interpreting applicable Town, State and Federal statutes, ordinances, codes, rules and regulations governing water utility. Knowledge of customer service techniques and methods. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, Town and Department policies and procedures. Knowledge of water distribution components, underground utility construction, materials and equipment used in the operations and maintenance of water distribution systems. Knowledge of water distribution installation and repair methods. Skill in computerized data base management. Skill in operating and maintaining a variety of equipment such as: loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, water trucks as well as miscellaneous types of equipment. Skill in transferring in-depth knowledge to coworkers and developing coworker skill. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on work assignments with minimal supervision.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A
High School diploma or GED. Two (2) years' utility experience. Grade II Water Distribution certificate issued by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, or ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment. Must possess a valid Class D Arizona driver license upon the first day of employment. Class A CDL will be required within 18 months of employment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. Ability to work under stressful situations including operation of equipment in bad weather or other difficult conditions such as while balancing multiple job assignments. Regular, daily attendance is an essential function for this position. Must be willing to work overtime as required. Position is subject to after-hours call out 24/7. Position is included in an on-call rotation. Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on an occasional basis. The Town of Oro Valley is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
