Job Description

We are looking for experienced Road Graders/Blade Operators to join our talented and award-winning team in Phoenix.
General Summary of Position :
This is a skilled position that is responsible for operating a self-propelled grade to spread and level dirt, gravel and stone to grade specifications in a safe manner and in accordance with OSHA safe practices. Projects will be located throughout Arizona and California.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Operate blade on roadway/civil projects using GPS, Blue Top and free hand Make normal adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finished cross section of material Safely and properly operate blade, including: regulating height and angle of blade, lowering scarifier and loosening packed soil to permit grading and tilting front wheels of grader when making sharp turns Rough grade and finish grade using a motor grader Responsible for directing and controlling dump trucks to where the material will be placed Drives grader in successive passes over working area, observing reference stakes or hand signals of assisting worker to level surface to specified grade Various types of construction equipment may also be operated including but not limited to Rollers, Loaders, Back Hoes, Track Hoes, Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Etc Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor Utilize blade GPS functionality Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
Qualifications:
At least 5 years experience as a blade operator Physical ability to walk on uneven terrain, Stand/Kneeling/Bending for long periods of time Must be able to climb equipment's ladder to reach the operators seat General operator skills Extensive knowledge of operating a CAT Motor Grader Previous experience with grade control systems Knowledge of finishing roadways Ability to lift heavy objects 50+ lbs. Must have reliable transportation, as you will need to drive your vehicle Required to have a valid Driver's License Required to pass pre-employment drug test/background check (This role is subject to federal testing requirements, which requires testing for cannabis despite state law) Candidates must pass a post-offer physical examination to ensure they can perform the essential physical functions of the job Physical Demands - A qualified individual must be able to perform these essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation: Sitting and/or standing/walking for long periods on uneven ground Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally Twisting, reaching overhead, pulling, pushing Ability to work at heights (e.g., on ladders, scaffolding) and in confined spaces (such as trenches or manholes) as required by the project Use hands to handle tools and heavy equipment, and reach with arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision (for reading plans/computer screens), distance vision, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities Work Environment This role is outdoors on active construction sites. The employee could be exposed to weather conditions such as heat, cold, and rain, and will work near heavy machinery and moving vehicles The noise level on site is often loud, and the environment may involve dust and fumes. Appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety vest, hearing protection, etc.) is required at all times. Work may occasionally be at heights or in confined spaces The employee is required to follow all safety policies and procedures and to actively participate in safety trainings and meetings. This position is classified as safety-sensitive Must be willing to work overtime or weekends when project deadlines require
