The Yard Attendant will be responsible for maintaining and organizing the storage yard by using a forklift or other means to arrange impounded or stored vehicles. Performs miscellaneous tasks in the yard and facilities. Responsibilities Safely load, unload, and move vehicles within the yard using appropriate equipment such as flatbeds, tow trucks, or forklifts. Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns, utilizing automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge. Assist with basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary, including understanding manual transmissions and automotive repair fundamentals. Operate tow trucks and flatbed trucks to recover or transport vehicles efficiently and securely. Maintains the storage yard in a safe, clean, and orderly manner. Ensures that all trash is properly disposed of and not left in the truck or on the ground. Secures the storage yard when leaving. Responds to calls dispatched in a safe, timely manner. Provides roadside assistance in a safe, professional manner; free of accidents, injuries, and damage. Inspects trucks daily for safety, organization, and related equipment, tools, and rigging inventory, and turns in a complete pre-shift inspection prior to beginning duty each day. Drives safely, obeys all traffic laws, drives defensively, always wears a seat belt, follows the 4-second following rule, and minimizes backing and left turns. Trucks are kept clean inside and out; always maintain the truck's fuel tanks half full; maintain truck fluid levels according to manufacturer standards, and note quantities added on the pre-shift inspection sheet. Experience Prior experience working with automotive diagnostics, mechanical repairs, or mechanic work is highly valued. Hands-on experience operating tow trucks, flatbeds, forklifts, or other heavy-duty equipment is preferred. Knowledge of manual transmissions and automotive repair processes enhances your ability to perform duties confidently. Demonstrated ability to drive commercially or operate vehicles such as tow trucks or flatbeds safely is essential. Previous roles involving load & unload operations or yard management contribute to your success in this position.
