JOB SUMMARY
Spaccamonti Excavating LLC is seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Pueblo, CO. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with excavation, pipe laying, and grading operations, along with the ability to interpret blueprints and perform routine equipment maintenance. This role requires precision, responsibility, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, graders, dozers, and compactors to support excavation, pipe laying, and grading projects. Cut and maintain grade according to project specifications. Lay water, sewer, storm drainage, and other underground utility pipes. Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes. Perform soil compaction and quality checks to meet project requirements. Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance and repairs. Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols at all times. Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and project managers to ensure smooth operations. Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage. Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for the performance of the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED Equivalency preferred Minimum 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience in construction, excavation, or utilities required Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, and underground utility installation required Ability to read blueprints and use grade lasers or GPS equipment required Understanding of soil compaction methods and requirements required Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting required
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Driver's License at the time of application and maintained throughout employment required CDL preferred
