BASIC FUNCTION
This position will perform skilled work in operating a limited variety of general hauling, construction, and maintenance equipment in the construction and reconstruction of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities. Equipment operation includes, backhoe, trackhoe, skid loader, telehandler, and roller. This position will perform general laborer work when not operating equipment. Position will report to the site Superintendent.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Checks and fuels vehicles and perform light mechanical adjustments and assists mechanic in performing repairs on assigned equipment. 2. May drive dump and water trucks on site. 3. Spread gravel and stone. 4. Excavate trenches for concrete foundations and pipe installation. 5. Make and grade road shoulders, shape ditches, and install culverts. 6. Perform various manual tasks involved in construction and reconstruction of buildings/sites. 7. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Proven ability to safely operate and perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment. Ability to understand and carry out routine instructions to follow grades and elevations. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Ability to perform various manual tasks in construction Must have valid driver's license Must have a minimum of 5 years of Operator experience Lifting and carrying up to 80 pounds (material, bags and scrap), pushing and pulling 100‑pound carts and walking about six hours per day. Climbing stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds when the job cannot be stocked in any other way. May involve carrying materials up as many as four floors.
