Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years experience in the operation of heavy duty trucks and equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Requires a valid class "A" driver license with air brakes; may require a "N" endorsement for tanker truck dependent upon departmental assignment. Role and Responsibilities Operates heavy-duty trucks and equipment in the loading, hauling and distribution of materials and in construction and maintenance of roadways and drainage systems. Essential Job Functions Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Operates trucks and equipment, to include dump trucks, flat-beds, loaders, backhoes, compactors, graders, dozers, tankers, and pick-ups. Inspects trucks, tools and equipment. Ensures the maintenance of trucks, tools and equipment. Performs physical labor in the maintenance, restoration or construction of roadways, drainage systems. Assists with traffic control. Cuts trees, limbs and shrubbery on rights-of-way or adjacent road and traffic areas. Clears ditches, culverts, drains, gutters and beaver dams. Must be able to meet work schedule and attendance standards. Performs related duties as required.
