Full Job Description Roller Operator Position Summary:
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Asphalt Rake Operator to join our paving crew. The Rake Operator plays a critical role in finishing and shaping freshly laid asphalt by manually spreading, leveling, and smoothing the material to ensure a high-quality surface. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and experience in asphalt paving.
Key Responsibilities:
Use hand tools such as asphalt rakes, lutes, and shovels to spread and level asphalt materials. Work closely with the paving machine and other crew members to ensure smooth and consistent surface finish. Feather edges, remove excess material, and fill low spots to ensure even compaction and a proper slope. Check mat depth, texture, and alignment and make necessary adjustments. Maintain a clean and safe work area around the paver and work zones. Assist with traffic control and jobsite safety as needed. Communicate with the screed operator and roller operator to coordinate finishing activities. Perform other labor duties on the paving crew when not raking.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum 1 year of experience in asphalt paving, preferably as a rake operator. Ability to use hand tools and work in physically demanding conditions. Good understanding of asphalt properties and paving techniques.
