Summary:
Perform duties relevant to all phases of Tipping Floor and Ash Management Building operations (where applicable). Monitor and direct refuse trucks to proper bays on Tipping Floor. Assist Crane Operator in implementation of good pit management. Ensure tipping floor is clear of obstacles and that traffic flows smoothly. Load metal trucks (where applicable). Safely and effectively operate heavy equipment in the course of daily operations.
Essential Functions:
Monitors and directs refuse trucks to proper bay on tipping floor. Monitors trash deliveries from tipping floor and reports numbers and names of trucks failing to deliver suitable trash. Screens loads for unacceptable waste and fills out appropriate inspection reports. Assists Crane Operators in implementing good pit management. Ensures that tipping area is consistently clear of obstacles and that traffic is flowing smoothly. Performs general housekeeping duties in assigned area to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility. Keeps entire floor clean and dust level low by use of water truck and front-end loaders (where applicable). Cleans curbing area of excess waste after trucks have dumped into pit. Follows standard safety procedures. Corrects safety and environmental hazards and reports them to supervision immediately. Removes the metal from the ash received from the facility with the use of the loader rake and/or magnet crane (where applicable). Loads and monitors ash trucks from ash management facility (where applicable). Operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer supplied operator's manual and corporate safety instructions. Performs routine maintenance checks on mobile equipment and reports malfunctions to Supervisor. Completes the Corporate and Facility Training Programs within the time frame prescribed. Follows standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to the Shift Supervisor immediately. Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Works overtime. Work rotating shifts. Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio or face to face. Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas. Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. Six months experience or related training desirable. Mechanical abilities sufficient to perform equipment maintenance, minor repairs and general preventative maintenance.
Supervision Received:
Perform job duties within prescribed standards. Minimal supervision necessary once varied tasks are mastered.
