Job Description
We are Sharp Transit, an in-house carrier for Aldi - one of the nation's largest grocery store chains. The grocery industry is a vital part of a healthy and safe community. We are seeing record level of deliveries that will continue as our communities are impacted. We have an immediate openings for a Yard Switcher to join our exceptional team in Jefferson, GA. This position will work 7pm - 7am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Saturday. Please apply via Indeed. We do not accept phone call inquiries. Duties and Responsibilities Move trailers to multiple onsite locations Responsible for getting trailers to Fleet Manager when needed Responsible for keeping the trailers organized on the yard Responsible for performing a yard check daily, and communicating any issues Report safety, quality, and equipment issues to supervisor Perform daily pre-trip inspections including but not limited to checking oil level, water level, fuel level and visually inspecting both the tractor and the trailer filling out required paperwork Hook up tractor to trailer, which includes backing under the trailer, raising landing gear, and hookup up air lines Other duties as assigned by supervisor Requirements Must be at least 23 years of age CDL preferred but not required Must have at least of 1 year of recent verifiable yard switching or CDLA tractor trailer driving experience experience Sharp Transit has been a dedicated in-house carrier for Aldi Grocery stores for over 20 years. With six terminals from Michigan to South Florida, we provide Aldi with warehouse to store delivery services. Dry goods, fresh produce, frozen food and other merchandise are all a part of the goods that we carry.
