In this vital role, you will operate a variety of heavy machinery to execute excavation, grading, utility installation, and site preparation tasks with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will help ensure that projects progress smoothly, safely, and on schedule. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills while contributing to impactful infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, horizontal drilling rigs, and tankers to perform earthmoving and utility installation tasks. Conduct site preparation activities including grading, trenching, backfilling, and leveling to meet project specifications. Assist with the installation of underground utilities by accurately digging trenches and managing horizontal drilling operations. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are maintained. Follow all safety protocols and construction site procedures to prevent accidents and promote a secure work environment. Collaborate with project managers and crew members to coordinate equipment usage and project timelines effectively. Document work activities, report any issues or hazards promptly, and maintain accurate records of daily operations. Complete Daily pre-trip inspection of equipment Obtain direction from crew leadership daily or crew activities and keep report detailed diaries of daily work performed to crew foreman for entry into HJ Report equipment issues to leadership Coordinate field issues and the scope of work changes with crew leadership. Qualifications:
3 years Experience in pushing and moving lots of gravel and dirt for heavy civil, commercial, residential, and multifamily projects. Understand grades, elevations, and compaction requirements. Able to read and understand plans and specifications and decide the best way to implement them. Ability to understand cut sheets, cut/fill #'s, elevations, and slopes. Ability to proactively and safely mitigate potential problems on the job site. Leadership, communication, organizational skills are a must. Self-motivated and accountable are also necessary. Strong working knowledge regarding the operation, safety and maintenance of equipment in use. Ability to safely operate equipment in the presence of field crew and utilities ensuring the safety of all persons, equipment, property and utilities in the area Valid drivers license and clean
MVR MSHA
training a plus CDL a plus Skills Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, horizontal drills, tankers, and paving machinery. Proven experience operating construction site machinery in earthwork and utility projects. Valid commercial driver's license with experience driving heavy equipment or trucks such as dump trucks or water trucks. Familiarity with construction safety standards and procedures for operating heavy machinery on active sites. Ability to interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications related to excavation and utility installation. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors effectively.
