(Department of Transportation) regulations Loader operation Manual transmission Full Job Description Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Lowboy CDL Driver - Heavy Equipment Transporter with a valid CDL (A) license to join our team. This role requires experience with driving a vehicle with an 18-speed manual transmission, working outdoors year-round, running advanced forestry equipment, and safety as a top priority. Candidates who demonstrate long-term value (2+ years) and consistent performance may be considered for union opportunities, along with continued long-term growth and advancement within our organization. Who We Are Central Tree provides professional tree and brush clearing for residential and commercial clients throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. With over two decades of experience, our services include Land Clearing, Lane Clearing, Brush Mowing, Tree & Stump Removal and Residential Tree Trimming. We are experienced, licensed and insured forestry professionals committed to safety, environmental stewardship, and quality workmanship. We also provide premium landscape mulch, equipment repair, custom hydraulic hoses, and are Authorized Dealers for Ryan's Equipment and Denis Cimaf mulchers. Central Tree is our community's one-stop shop! Key Responsibilities Loading and Unloading Load and unload equipment using ramps, winches, or other methods. Operate equipment during loading/unloading when necessary. Ensure proper load securement and compliance with DOT regulations. Assist with equipment setup or minor maintenance when needed. Transport Safely operate lowboy trucks to transport a variety of heavy forestry equipment (excavators, skid steers, loaders, feller bunchers, stump grinders, etc.). Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Navigate local, regional, and interstate routes while adhering to DOT regulations. Secure proper permitting when necessary. Reporting and Communication Maintain accurate reporting. Perform regular inventory reporting and upkeep. Monitor and report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs. Communicate with management regarding schedules and equipment needs. Safety Follow all federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety regulations. Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions. Report accidents, incidents, or violations promptly. Required Qualifications and Skills Valid CDL (A) and a clean driving record - must be insurable . Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening . Read, write, and professionally communicate in English with specific attention to detail. Understand the operation and specifications of various heavy equipment types. Ability to follow directions, and work under direct supervision, or independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues. Comfortable working year-round outdoors in various weather. Possess adequate physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work long hours. Must be dependable and on-time with reliable transportation to and from the shop. Must be able to work effectively under pressure. Comfortable with daily exposure to noise and heavy machinery.

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour, with opportunity for negotiation after 6 months.
