Heavy Equipment Operator - Compost Facility (1st & 2nd Shift)

Caldwell's Inc. Caldwell's Inc. is seeking dependable, safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing Compost Facility team. We currently have openings on both 1st Shift and 2nd Shift . Operators play a critical role in the daily movement, processing, and management of organic materials while helping maintain a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy operating heavy equipment, working outdoors, and being part of a team dedicated to sustainability and operational excellence. Essential Responsibilities Safely operate loaders, excavators, skid steers, grinders, screeners, and other heavy equipment as assigned Load, move, stockpile, and process organic materials throughout the composting operation Assist with compost pile construction, turning, blending, and material management Monitor incoming materials to ensure compliance with acceptance requirements Perform routine equipment inspections and complete daily pre- and post-trip inspections Report equipment maintenance or repair needs promptly Maintain safe traffic flow and assist drivers and customers entering the facility Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operational needs and site conditions Assist with general facility maintenance and additional duties as assigned Qualifications Previous heavy equipment operating experience preferred Experience operating loaders, excavators, dozers, skid steers, or similar equipment is a plus Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Effective communication and teamwork skills Willingness to learn and grow within the organization Physical Requirements Ability to climb in and out of equipment safely throughout the day Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed Ability to work in dusty, muddy, hot, cold, and other outdoor environmental conditions Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company benefits Paid time off and paid holidays Company-provided PPE Career growth and advancement opportunities Why Caldwell's?
