Job Description
Basic Function:
The Equipment Operator (EO) is primarily responsible for operating equipment on various construction sites. Additionally, the EO will be responsible for properly maintaining the equipment including preventive maintenance and routine service, cleaning, transporting, and securing the equipment. Some supervisory responsibilities. The EO will report directly to the Development Coordinator.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including mini excavators, straw blowers, skid steers, and other miscellaneous equipment.
- Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation.
- Uses excavating machinery to dig holes and trenches.
- Transports tools and other construction equipment to and from construction sites.
- Inspects, greases and fuels equipment prior to beginning shift.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Operate and transport equipment in a safe manner.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
- Ability to read site plans.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred.
- On-the-job training offered.
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
- Able to work long periods including weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to lift 50 punds at a time.
- Active Class A CDL driver's license.
- Pass criminal background check.
- A Minimum of 3 years equipment operator experience is required.
- Insurable on company auto insurance policy.
