The equipment operator may operate several types of power construction equipment such as loaders, hydraulic excavators, dozers, tractors, skid steers, scrapers, and motor graders.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, or grade tractors. Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation. Uses equipment to prepare building sites for exterior site concrete such as parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and loading docks. Operates machinery used to build bridges, roads, and railroads. Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift. Performs routine maintenance and repairs, such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities. Excellent mechanical skills. Strong communication skills. Heavy focus on safety and teamwork is mandatory. Judge distances and slopes accurately, make decisions based on verifiable standards. Must be drug free, as operators are subject to random DOT drug testing.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery with the ability to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary. Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time. IBI is an
