Audley, Inc. has full-time opening for a Heavy Equipment Operators. This role is essential in providing support and assistance in major highway projects.
Job Description Summary:
A Heavy Equipment Operator is essential in completing project objectives for R.S. Audley, Inc. This individual is responsible for operating all kinds and sizes of excavators, loaders, dozers and other construction equipment safely, as this individual will be operating around traffic, powerlines, and various other obstructions. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating different kinds of construction equipment to move dirt and other materials on the job site. You must be able to coordinate and collaborate with other workers and supervisors on-site, so clear communication skills are crucial. This individual is also responsible for observing the R.S. Audley, Inc.'s safety standards as well as policies and procedures
Key Functions and Requirements:
  • Observe hand signals, grade stakes, or other markings when operating machines so that work can be performed to specifications.
  • Become familiar with machine capabilities, limitations, and with efficient and safe digging procedures in each application.
  • Operate machinery to perform activities such as excavations, backfilling, trenching, ditching, slope work, erosion control, grubbing, stumping, clearing, looming, fine grading, and final clean up.
  • Excavate for various underground utilities at various depths and percentages of pitch.
  • Proficient in CAT equipment of all sizes.
  • Experienced operating tilt buckets, inverted buckets, and hydraulic hammers.
  • Well versed handling trench boxes of all sizes and shapes.
  • Coordinate with other workers to determine dig sites.
  • Observed condition of equipment and materials used to ensure company standards are met and promptly report any possible problems and defects to foreman/supervisor.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
  • Execute all duties in accordance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have superior ability in reading, understanding and implementing plan designs.
  • Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment.
  • Previous experience following grades per plan design, and knowledge of grade stakes
  • 2 years of experience with GPS preferred.
  • 2 years of experience using trench boxes and performing pipe work with excavator.
  • Fine Grading preferred
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (sitting for 8 hours per day, lifting loads up to 30lbs.
working in confined spaces, clarity of vision at two feet or more).
Required Education and Experience:
  • Must have at least 4 years of experience
  • High school diploma or GED; Associates or bachelor degree preferred.
  • 10 Hour OSHA Certification.
  • Any combination of education or experience that demonstrates that the individual has the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
