Hot Mixed Asphalt Apprentice

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc (NESL) is looking for a Hot Mixed Asphalt Apprentice to support our Barton Road HMA Plant operations. This position will be responsible for supporting the daily batching and workplace needs related to Commercial, Residential and Municipal Asphalt manufacturing. This is a hands-on position, requiring physical labor and a proactive attitude to ensure our operations run smoothly and efficiently. • What Will You Do?
• Support Plant Operator at assigned HMA plant with a Safety-First mindset.
• Adapt to varying start and end times each day. Hours during the production season fluctuate due to customer requirements. Significant overtime is typically required during peak season.
• Operate small equipment and heavy equipment to support operations. Previous experience preferred.
• Perform routine inspections, visual walk arounds, and maintenance of HMA plant to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Willing to learn and train for additional job duties such as operating HMA Plants, with possible full time operating opportunities per union bargaining agreement.
• Mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions including hot, cold, wet, and outdoor settings, with exposure to high heat at the HMA plant.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus.
• Strong work ethic and a willingness to lean.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and in a physically demanding environment.
