Job Description

POSITION
Equipment Operator Construction Division
REPORTS TO
Construction Supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to operate in a proficient manner the Backhoe and Mini Excavator as well as various types of equipment such as front end loader, roller, excavator, tractors, and heavy trucks having a G.V.W. over 26,000 lbs. Three years in the operation of such equipment is preferred. Must be able to perform heavy physical labor outdoors in all types of weather. Must have a minimum valid CDL Class A Restricted License within six months of hire/transfer date. Full time non-exempt position.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS
Will be required to be on time and maintain attendance requirements. Operate heavy trucks and appropriate construction or maintenance equipment. Grade, excavate, load equipment, and haul material, rigging and lifting material. Exercise judgement to safely operate various types of equipment. Wash equipment, clean filters and grease assigned equipment. Perform minor repairs to assigned equipment when needed. Will be required to assist mechanics with major repairs on all assigned equipment when needed. Turn mileage or Hrs. in weekly for assigned equipment. Will be required to be certified for traffic control. Perform snow removal on Town streets or other Town owned property. Will be required to assist other crews and perform other duties as directed by appropriate supervisor. Will be required to bend, twist, squat, kneel, walk and stand for extended periods of time. Will be required to work from above, at and below grade, or from ladders. Will be required to be available to work in all types of weather conditions and subject to emergency call out in adverse weather conditions, such as heavy rain and wind storms, snow, flooding and other emergency conditions at any time.
