Heavy Equipment Landfill Operator

Job Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Excavator Operator to support daily operations at our landfill facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience loading and moving trash, maintaining landfill cells, and operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently in an active landfill environment. Responsibilities Operate excavators to load, move, and manage waste materials Assist with landfill cell construction, grading, and daily cover placement Maintain safe working conditions around trucks, compactors, and other equipment Perform routine equipment inspections and report mechanical issues Follow all safety, environmental, and operational regulations Work closely with site supervisors and scale house personnel Keep work areas clean and organized Requirements Minimum [2-5] years of excavator experience , preferably in landfill or waste management operations Strong knowledge of safe excavation and material handling techniques Ability to work in all weather conditions Understanding of landfill safety and environmental regulations Reliable transportation and punctual attendance Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment OSHA training or safety certifications CDL (a plus, but not required) Benefits Competitive wages based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Retirement plan options Stable, year-round work
