McElmurray Constr Beech Island, SC Job Details Full-time 19 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Vision insurance Qualifications Outdoor work Asphalt Bituminous materials Pavement compaction Full Job Description Job Summary The Asphalt Roller Operator is responsible for operating roller and compaction equipment to compact asphalt, soil, or aggregate materials during roadway, parking lot, and site construction projects. This role ensures proper compaction, smooth finishes, and compliance with project specifications and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Operate asphalt rollers and compaction equipment safely and efficiently Compact asphalt, base, and subgrade materials to required density and smoothness Work closely with paving crews, foremen, and other equipment operators Monitor mat temperature, rolling patterns, and compaction quality Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections Adjust rolling techniques based on material, weather, and job conditions Maintain equipment cleanliness and report mechanical issues Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies Assist with general labor duties when not operating equipment Qualifications & Requirements Previous experience operating asphalt rollers or similar heavy equipment preferred Knowledge of asphalt paving processes and compaction techniques Strong attention to detail and safety awareness Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Physically capable of climbing on/off equipment and standing for extended periods Work Environment Outdoor construction sites Exposure to heat, noise, dust, and heavy machinery Long hours, including early mornings and occasional weekends Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception
