Excavator Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

Taking direction from the foreman or lead hand, this position is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of equipment and daily pre/post maintenance checks. The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, with a primary focus on excavator operation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Safety Leadership & Compliance Ensuring safety and quality is at the forefront of every task Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures Perform daily pre/post safety and maintenance checks Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored Equipment Operation Responsibilities This role will primarily involve operating excavators. Strong, hands-on excavator experience is required, with the ability to operate efficiently and safely in a construction environment.

Secondary equipment operation may include:

loaders dozers telehandlers graders Lodril Vibro-Hammer and other pieces of equipment as required Daily Responsibilities Able to follow site plans Work closely with construction team to understand tasks and provide feedback Understand and have knowledge of equipment operating manuals Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required Advise the Fleet Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs Participate in routine maintenance, cleaning, greasing, etc. Ensure documentation for equipment is up to date as per daily checks

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience Operator's certificate from a licensed service provider 3 to 5 years' hands-on excavator operating experience is required (primary focus of this role) Experience operating crawler tractors, loaders, and other heavy equipment considered an asset Class 5 driver's license required; Class 1 license with air brakes considered an asset Skills & Abilities Strong excavator operating ability is required Experience with additional equipment noted above is considered an asset In compliance with client and project/work site requirements, candidates may be required to undergo pre- access screening

Pay:

$25.00 - $36.00 per hour
