Non-Exempt Job Description:
In this role you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of working crews engaged in for the operation of specialized heavy equipment used in construction, repair and maintenance of municipal parks, rights-of-way and drainage systems.
Examples of Duties:
Supervises the worksites to ensure that the work is being completed safely, accurately and efficiently. Ensures that all personnel are adequately trained to carry out their duties. Ensures compliance with safety policies and conducts monthly safety meeting. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Ensures that all equipment is properly maintained, clean and ready for use. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used. Completes time and production records, and prepares required reports May operate equipment such as excavators, backhoes, tractors, front-end loaders, and dump trucks. Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 4 years of related experience OR Associate's degree (AA/AS) or equivalent Trade School training and 2 years of related experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience Current SC Commercial Driver's License - Class A Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word or similar software The City of Charleston is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity ( EEOC) as a fundamental policy to be implemented and observed in our daily operation.
