Job Description This role involves safely operating heavy equipment, including Volvo wheel loaders and forklifts, to move and load materials in a high-activity production environment. The equipment operator supports daily production by loading raw materials, performing routine maintenance on equipment, and strictly following safety policies and procedures while working primarily in outdoor conditions. Responsibilities Safely operate Volvo wheel loaders and forklifts to move, transport, and handle materials throughout the site. Load bins with raw materials, ensuring the correct mix, quantity, and placement according to production requirements. Perform routine equipment maintenance, including checking oil levels, fueling, cleaning, and conducting basic inspections. Inspect equipment before and after use to identify potential issues and report any defects or safety concerns promptly. Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily inspection and operation logs for all assigned equipment. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and protocols at all times to prevent accidents and injuries. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure it is used correctly during all work activities. Support production operations by responding to material handling needs in a timely and efficient manner. Assist with general labor tasks related to production support and maintenance as needed. Work effectively in a high-activity environment, including working long hours and overtime when required. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment, including front-end loaders. Proficiency in operating Volvo wheel loaders and forklifts in an industrial or construction environment. Demonstrated experience in heavy equipment operation, including safe handling of loaders and other machinery. Ability to perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking oil, fueling, cleaning, and basic equipment inspections. Capability to maintain daily logbooks and inspection records accurately and consistently. Strong commitment to safety adherence and following established safety policies and procedures. Ability to work in extreme outdoor climates, including hot, cold, rainy, and dusty conditions. Physical ability to lift up to 65 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. Willingness to work long hours and overtime in a high-activity environment. General labor experience in a production, construction, or industrial setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with a range of heavy equipment, such as excavators, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, and front-end loaders. Background in construction or industrial production support environments. Familiarity with logbook maintenance and documentation practices. Experience in equipment operation within high-activity or fast-paced work sites. Exposure to basic maintenance tasks and troubleshooting of heavy equipment.
