Equipment Operator Job Description Job Summary:
The Equipment Operator is primarily responsible for safely and environmentally proficiently operating surface heavy equipment and performing plant maintenance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Does not have any direct reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows all company safety and environmental policies and all federal regulations (OSHA, MSHA, FRA, EPA, DOT, and
SDDANR, IADENR
). Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as skid steer, loader, excavator, motor grader, dozer, and haul truck. Perform and document a pre-shift inspection on equipment. Must be able to perform minor servicing and maintenance on mobile equipment as needed. Communicate with the shop/manager on equipment maintenance or repair needs. Responsible for the housekeeping of the equipment. Able to assist in plant repairs and clean-up. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. All other duties assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
High attention to detail. Good work attendance. Display good communication skills, including the ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and instructions. Learn a variety of work skills associated with maintenance and repair operations. Safely and efficiently use a variety of hand and power tools. Read, understand, and follow safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements:
Physically fit to perform the job functions, including sitting, standing, squat, bending, lifting, and walking for long durations. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. L.G.
