Job Description

General Summary An equipment operator operates a variety of equipment including; tractor, scraper, forklift, bobcat, backhoe, excavator, frontend loader, side boom, semi-tractor with trailer etc. Essential Job Functions 1. Regular and reliable attendance. 2. Prepared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE. 3. Responsible for Daily Shift validations. 4. Must possess a current and valid Driver License with clean driving record. 5. Have appropriate certifications to operate the equipment being used. 6. Preform and fill out pre-shift vehicle inspection before leaving the yard, check all fluids/tires/lights/ and all signs as listed on pre-shift. 7. Gather appropriate job permits and ensure they are filled out correctly with correct signatures. 8. Have appropriate licenses and certifications to operate the equipment being used. 9. Follow and/or complete the Detailed Daily Work Plan and ensure crew actively participates, knows and follows each procedure. 10. Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres and hazards associated with using tools and equipment. Preform a job walk to identify all potential hazards around working area and take procedural actions to mitigate or eliminate if any found. 11. Participate in safe work, behavioral safety audits and near hits. 12. Perform monthly tool audits on equipment and ensure compliance (vehicle registration/ fire extinguisher). 13. Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner, in addition load and unload material as needed for each job site. 14. Perform tasks assigned by PLW or Foreman. 15. Perform various duties like shoring boxes, digging and back filling various types of ditches and trenches. 16. Shoot elevations at eye level. 17. Test for H2S or oxygen deficient atmospheres and have knowledge on how to read a monitor. 18. Test the job site for immediate respiratory dangers and know how to read a monitor. 19. Be actively involved in Behavioral Safety Process. 20. Develop knowledge of KSI PPM-SOPs and refer to the SOP Manual prior to each task. 21. Follow all KS Industries, LLC safety, and customer policies and procedures. 22. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read and write in English Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner. Knowledge of Lock Out/ Tag Out process Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.) Knowledge of Stop Work Authority (SWA) Ability to complete training for Behavioral Safety Process Ability to work with pipe and hand wrenches, hammers, shovels and gas monitors Ability to use Gas Monitors and loads Knowledge of rigging and binding equipment Ability to operate various types of equipment controls (Case, John Deere, Caterpillar etc.) and load charts Ability to demonstrate basic construction safety rules Ability to work in confined spaces for long periods at a time Education and Experience Preferably 1-2 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools. Physical & Mental Requirements Less than 1% 1% to 33% 34% to 65% 66% to 100%
Lifting/Pulling/Jerking/Grasping/Raising/Lowering:
Must be able to lift, grasp up to 50 lbs. with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold and/or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc.) Must be able to raise and lower objects from one level to another. x
Squatting/Twisting/Bend/Reaching/Stooping/Squatting/Kneeling :
Must be able to twist, squat, kneel and bend in various positions with or without objects. x
Pushing :
Must be able to exert force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force. x
Carry/Support :
Must be able to carry and provide support to objects, usually holding it in hands, arms and/or on the shoulders. x Body Positions;
Supine/Seated/Standing :
Must be able to work in a supine, seated or standing position. x
Working Conditions:
The locations vary from site to site. Work is physically demanding and requires the ability to concentrate well on the job at hand, in all types of weather. Majority of the work is construction-based work. Walking and working surface vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes and frozen, wet, snowy and slippery conditions. 
Working Hours:
 Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include 5-8's and 4-10's. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
