Job Description

Position Summary Seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator with a minimum of 10 years of experience in underground utility construction and excavation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating heavy equipment in support of water, sewer, storm drain, and other utility main installation projects. This position requires a strong understanding of excavation, trenching, grading, and utility construction practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely operate excavators, backhoes, loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, and other heavy construction equipment. Perform excavation and trenching activities for underground utility installations and foundations. Support the installation, repair, and replacement of: Water mains Sewer mains Storm drain systems Utility conduits and related infrastructure Read and interpret construction plans, utility drawings, grade stakes, and specifications. Work closely with foremen, superintendents, and utility crews to ensure project objectives are met. Maintain awareness of existing underground utilities and follow safe excavation procedures. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report and perform any maintenance needs. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific requirements. Assist with grading, backfilling, site restoration, and other construction activities as needed. Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of heavy equipment operating experience in underground utility construction and building excavation. Proven experience installing and working around utility mains and underground utility systems.
Strong knowledge of:
Water distribution systems Sewer collection systems Storm drainage systems Utility trenching and excavation practices Ability to read and understand construction plans and grade information. Strong commitment to workplace safety. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Preferred Qualifications Class
A CDL. OSHA
10 or OSHA 30 certification. Competent Person Certification for Excavation and Trenching. Experience with GPS machine control systems. Municipal and public works utility project experience. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment safely. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work overtime and weekends as required by project schedules.
