Job Description

Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavation & Underground Utilities We Do Dirt, LLC is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our growing excavation team. We have built a reputation as a premier earthwork contractor in the Pacific Northwest and continue to expand our excavation, site development, and underground utility services.

We are looking for a versatile operator who can confidently run GPS-equipped equipment, install underground utilities, and work alongside the crew to keep projects moving efficiently. Required Experience Excavation and site development Track hoe (excavator) operation Underground utility installation Pipe laying (storm, sewer, and water) GPS machine control systems Rover operation and grade verification What You'll Do Operate GPS-equipped excavators, dozers, articulated dump trucks, loaders, and other heavy equipment. Perform excavation, grading, site preparation, and earthmoving activities. Install underground utilities including storm, sewer, and water systems. Excavate utility trenches while maintaining proper grades and alignment. Utilize GPS machine control and rover equipment to verify grades and elevations. Work safely around active crews, equipment, and jobsite hazards. Assist with pipe installation, trenching, backfilling, and compaction as needed. Conduct pre-shift equipment inspections. Perform routine equipment maintenance, including greasing, fueling, and keeping equipment clean. Communicate equipment issues and repair needs to supervisors and mechanics. Follow project plans, grade stakes, and safety requirements. Work as part of a team and assist where needed to keep projects on schedule. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of heavy civil excavation experience preferred. Strong track hoe (excavator) experience required. Pipe laying experience required. Experience operating GPS-equipped machinery required. Experience using a rover for grade verification required. Experience with Leica Geosystems GPS equipment required. Ability to read plans, grades, and utility layouts. Strong understanding of trenching and excavation safety. Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify equipment issues. Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded. Valid driver's license required. What We're Looking For We want someone who is not just an operator but a team player. The ideal candidate is willing to jump out of the cab, help the crew, lay pipe when needed, verify grades with a rover, and do whatever it takes to complete quality work safely and efficiently.
