This position plays a critical role in supporting operations by loading, unloading, transporting, staging, and organizing oversized commercial and industrial generators, trailers, and related freight. This role requires a highly skilled equipment operator who demonstrates exceptional safety awareness, sound judgment, attention to detail, and professionalism while handling high-value customer products. Operators are expected to work independently while maintaining close coordination with dispatch, yard operations, and drivers to ensure safe and efficient yard operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Equipment Operation Safely operate the Combi-SC3 Straddle Carrier in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company policies. Lift, transport, stage, and position oversized generators, trailers, containers, and other heavy equipment. Load and unload flatbed trailers and specialized transportation equipment. Perform precision placement of customer products within designated yard locations. Ensure proper load balance and equipment stability during all lifting operations. Operate equipment efficiently while minimizing product damage and equipment wear. Yard Operations Coordinate equipment movements with dispatch, supervisors, and drivers. Organize yard inventory to maximize storage utilization and operational efficiency. Assist with trailer spotting and movement as needed. Verify equipment identification and placement accuracy. Maintain clear travel paths and organized staging areas. Support inventory accuracy through proper product placement. Safety Conduct documented pre-trip, operational, and post-trip inspections. Immediately report equipment defects or unsafe conditions. Stop operations whenever unsafe conditions exist. Follow OSHA regulations and all company safety policies. Wear required PPE at all times. Participate in safety meetings and required training. Report all incidents, near misses, and property damage immediately. Equipment Care Maintain cleanliness of assigned equipment. Monitor fluid levels and perform routine operator maintenance. Report maintenance concerns promptly. Protect company assets through proper equipment operation. Administrative Responsibilities Complete daily inspection reports. Maintain operational logs. Document product damage or equipment issues. Utilize company technology for inspections and reporting. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum three (3) years operating heavy industrial equipment. Experience operating large forklifts, cranes, reach stackers, straddle carriers, heavy loaders, or similar equipment. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety. Ability to work independently. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Mechanical aptitude. Basic computer and mobile device skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous CombiLift SC3 experience. Previous experience moving oversized freight. Heavy haul or specialized transportation experience. Manufacturing or industrial yard experience. NCCCO certification (preferred). Physical Requirements The employee must regularly: Climb on and off heavy equipment. Sit for extended periods while operating machinery. Frequently twist, reach, bend, and climb. Lift up to 50 pounds. Work outdoors year-round. Maintain visual awareness of surrounding equipment and personnel. Distinguish audible alarms and warning devices. Work Environment Outdoor industrial yard. Exposure to heat, cold, rain, snow, and varying weather. Heavy truck traffic. Moving cranes, forklifts, trailers, and commercial vehicles. Noise requiring hearing protection. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent equipment operating skills. Strong spatial awareness. Sound judgment under pressure.
