Summary:
The Painter/Finisher is responsible for final-stage finishing and quality control of all fabricated ironwork, ensuring each piece meets Ensley Iron's visual and performance standards prior to delivery or installation. This includes cleaning, sanding, priming, painting, touch-up, and final inspection of mild steel and cast-iron products before installation or delivery. This is primarily a shop-based role with occasional field assignments as needed. Attention to detail, consistency, and pride in your finished product are critical to this role.
Essential Duties:
Prepare ironwork surfaces by grinding, sanding, cleaning, and removing rust, slag, or residue to ensure proper paint adhesion. Apply primers and paints using sprayers and brushes to achieve a smooth, consistent finish. Perform touch-up work during staging, transport, or prior to installation as needed. Inspect completed work for coverage, color consistency, and overall surface quality. Label, organize, and stage finished materials for loading and delivery. Maintain painting tools, spray equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition. Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams to meet project timelines. Identify quality or safety issues and take corrective action as needed. Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
Qualifications:
Experience preparing and painting metal surfaces using sprayers and brushes preferred. Proficient in grinding, sanding, cleaning, and applying finishes. Ability to receive feedback, adapt, and improve processes. Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and consistency. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Lift and carry materials weighing up to 45 pounds. Work in a shop environment with exposure to dust, fumes, and varying temperatures. Stand, bend, and move throughout the shift while handling materials and tools. Use appropriate PPE including respirators, gloves, eye protection, and safety footwear.
Pay:
$18.45 - $21.44 per hour
