Responsibilities Assist lead painters with surface preparation including sanding, scraping, caulking, and priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Handle hand tools such as brushes, rollers, scrapers, and putty knives with confidence and safety awareness. Support the application of paint using airless sprayers and power tools for efficient coverage on large projects. Prepare work areas by covering furniture, masking surfaces, and setting up scaffolding or ladders for safe access. Mix paints according to color theory principles and project specifications to achieve desired finishes. Support the installation of fixtures, trim carpentry, and restoration tasks as needed during renovation projects. Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of debris properly, and adhering to safety protocols on construction sites. Skills Basic knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics, and construction site safety procedures. Familiarity with residential and commercial painting techniques including industrial painting, stucco application, and renovation work. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, airless paint sprayers, welding equipment, and masonry tools safely and effectively. Understanding of color theory for accurate color matching and finishing touches. Experience with plastering, caulking, trim carpentry, framing carpentry, concrete finishing, masonry, restoration projects, and fixture installation is highly desirable. Strong basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to project specifications. Hands-on experience in construction painting environments such as remodeling or maintenance projects is preferred. Ability to read blueprints or schematics to support precise project execution. Demonstrated handyman experience with a proactive attitude toward learning new skills like welding or airless spray techniques.
