MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Comfortable moving, setting up, and climbing up to 40' ladder
  • 1 year painting experience
  • Reliable transportation

JOB SUMMARY
Perform work in the repairing, painting, and finishing of a variety of interior and exterior structures and surfaces. You'll paint anything from a bedroom to cabinets to the exterior of a 3-story historical home!
JOB DUTIES AND TASKS
  • Clean and treat surfaces in preparation for coatings, using pressure washers, brushes, scrapers, and various cleaning agents.
  • Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, and shaving.
  • Conceal cracks, holes, etc., with fillers, using caulking guns and putty knives.
  • Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, steel wool, and sanding machines.
  • Apply primers and sealers to prepare surfaces for finish coats.
  • Apply coatings, such as paint, stain, and other finishes, using brushes, spray guns, and rollers.
  • Remove and replace fixtures, hardware, switches, and furniture prior to and after painting.
  • Set up and move ladders.
  • Examine finished surfaces to verify conformance to specifications; retouch defective areas.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes, and rags.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials safely.
KNOWLEDGE
  • Practices and processes of the painting trade.
  • Methods followed in the use and maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Properties and applications of paints, varnishes, and related materials.
  • Occupational hazards of the painting trade and precautionary measures to be observed.
ABILITIES
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients.
  • Perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), climbing ladders, bending, spending extensive time standing, and making repetitive motions.
  • Skillfully and safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades.
  • Keep your hand and arm steady while moving or holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • See details at close range; detect differences between color shades and brightness.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks.
