Job Description

Lead Painter The Picky Painters - 5.0 Strongsville, OH Job Details Full-time $20 - $34 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Profit sharing Paid time off On-the-job training Opportunities for advancement Tools provided Qualifications Residential painting Outdoor work Driver's License Climbing Construction painting surface preparation Commercial painting Full Job Description Are you the top painter on your current crew—consistently outworking everyone else—but still getting paid the exact same flat hourly rate? Do you know how to run a residential job site, manage efficiency, and deliver high-end finishes without a boss constantly looking over your shoulder? At The Picky Painters , we don't care about empty titles. We care about skill and efficiency. We completely reject the sloppy, "blow-and-go" mentality run by high-volume production companies. If you are fast, meticulous, and know how to lead a crew, our uncapped profit-sharing system ensures you earn significantly more than a standard hourly wage. ⚠️
WHO THIS IS FOR
We are looking for an experienced Lead Painter / Crew Leader who can take charge of residential repaints, custom home builds, and light commercial projects. If you need hand-holding or cut corners to save time, please do not apply. The Picky Painters Uncapped Pay & Bonus System We don't bid jobs based on how slow someone might work; we build an efficiency buffer directly into our project budgets. Every job is assigned a set number of target labor hours. If you and your crew finish the project under budget while maintaining our elite quality standards, those leftover labor dollars go straight into your paycheck. Because we handle multiple types of high-end projects, your earning potential scales with the work:
Residential & Custom Repaints:
We bid these projects using a premium labor rate of $30/hour . This creates a massive financial buffer compared to a standard base pay of $20/hour. If you finish early, you pocket the extra margin.
Custom New Construction:
We bid these at $26/hour to remain competitive. While the hourly rate is slightly lower, these sites are wide open—no furniture to move, no homeowners in your way, and pristine job sites. An experienced finisher can absolutely fly through these projects and rack up massive time savings.
Real-World Earning Example:
Let's say a residential repaint is budgeted for 32 hours of labor at the $30/hr bid rate.

If your crew's actual base cost (pay + taxes) averages $22.50/hr, that $7.50/hr difference builds a steady bonus pool just for hitting the target on time.

But the real money is made when you optimize the schedule. If your crew works smart and finishes 20% faster (in 25.6 hours) with zero quality defects, you don't just get to move to the next job—you get paid for the hours you saved at the full $30/hr rate.

For a painter with a $20/hr base rate, finishing this 32-hour job in 25.6 hours adds an extra $14.30 per hour for the time worked. That bumps your effective take-home pay to over $34.00 per hour!(
Note:
A standard 18% deduction is taken from the gross bonus to cover payroll taxes, but the remaining balance is entirely yours. Bonuses are split fairly based on the exact hours each team member contributed to the project. There is no cap on what you can earn).
