$ 35.30 The Painter performs professional painting, finishing, and surface preparation work throughout hospital and healthcare facilities. This role ensures that all painting and finishing projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and hospital policies. The Painter works independently and as part of the Facilities team to maintain a clean, professional, and patient-friendly environment.Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions :
Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and other surfaces. Apply paint, stain, varnish, sealants, or other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, and other tools. Follow detailed project specifications, color schemes, and finish requirements as directed. Ensure compliance with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) protocols and containment measures in patient care areas. Protect surrounding surfaces, furniture, and equipment during painting and finishing activities. Perform minor repair work related to painting, including filling holes, repairing trim, and caulking. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper disposal of paint, solvents, and materials. Mix, measure, and match paint colors accurately according to specifications. Operate ladders, scaffolding, and lifts safely to complete painting tasks in elevated areas. Assist with material procurement, storage, and inventory management for painting supplies. Communicate project progress, issues, and completion status to the Maintenance Manager or supervising Facilities staff. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of chemicals and materials. Maintain professional conduct, appropriate language, and appearance consistent with a healthcare setting. The employee supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Participates in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum). Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:

Five (5) years' experience performing painting and finishing work in commercial, institutional, or healthcare settings. Other Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and finishing materials. Ability to read and follow project specifications, color codes, and blueprints. Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion in a healthcare setting. Willingness to take evening and weekend calls on a rotating basis if required.Physical Requirements:

Motor coordination is required for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks necessary for the use of medical equipment and procedures. The position also involves occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when assisting patients or accessing equipment. Walking and standing are typically continuous throughout the shift. The role requires the ability to lift to 50 pounds independently and involves frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds. There may also be occasional lifting or transferring of objects weighing over 100 pounds, with the expectation that appropriate lifting techniques, mechanical aids, or team assistance will be used to ensure safety. This position is performed primarily in an indoor healthcare environment, such as a hospital, clinic, or long-term care facility. While the work setting is protected from outdoor weather conditions, it may be subject to variable indoor temperatures. The role involves frequent exposure to infectious and contagious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment, with the expectation that all staff follow appropriate safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The health care environment can be fast-paced and unpredictable, requiring the ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances, including high-pressure or emergency situations.
