Job Description
Talascend is currently seeking a Field Joint Coating Technician for a contract opportunity with our client in Mobile, Alabama . Overview This role involves performing coating application and surface preparation on pipelines, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Perform abrasive blasting using blast grit to prepare pipe surfaces to required cleanliness standards (e.g., SA 2.5 / NACE standards). Apply fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coatings using automated and manual spray systems. Operate IMPP machines for polypropylene (PP) multi-layer coating systems. Apply polyurethane coatings for corrosion protection and durability. Monitor coating thickness and ensure compliance with project specifications. Conduct inspections including holiday detection and visual quality checks. Maintain coating equipment and ensure proper operation of ovens, extruders, and spray systems. Follow strict safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment. Travel worldwide for undetermined periods of time as needed. Work in varied environments and climates as required. Maintain good interpersonal and teamwork skills. Demonstrate ability to retain knowledge to acquire additional skills and maintain technical competencies. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience working on a pipeline, preferred Working knowledge of mechanical and engineering procedures and processes, preferred Ability to travel worldwide for undetermined periods of time
