In this role, you will support the installation, assembly, and repair of underground piping systems for water, sewer, storm drainage, and related infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, works well as part of a crew, and maintains a strong commitment to safety and jobsite efficiency. Responsibilities Excavate, prepare, and grade trenches for pipe installation according to project specifications. Lay, align, and connect pipe sections for water, sewer, drainage, and utility systems. Assist with checking slopes, elevations, and grades to ensure proper pipe flow and installation. Use hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment support as needed on the jobsite. Install and secure fittings, couplings, manholes, catch basins, and related components. Inspect pipe materials and workmanship to help ensure quality standards are met. Backfill trenches and compact materials in accordance with project requirements. Follow all safety procedures, traffic control measures, and site-specific guidelines. Work collaboratively with supervisors, operators, and other crew members to complete projects on schedule. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each phase of the job. Qualifications Experience in pipe laying, utility installation, underground construction, or related field preferred. Ability to read and follow construction plans, grades, and basic layout instructions. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments. Ability to lift materials, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform manual labor for extended periods. Knowledge of trench safety, excavation practices, and general construction safety procedures. Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills. Ability to use hand tools and construction equipment safely and effectively. Valid driver's license may be required depending on project needs. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with municipal, commercial, or civil infrastructure projects. Familiarity with laser levels, transit equipment, or grade-checking tools. OSHA or other safety certifications relevant to construction work.
