Sunline Civil Construction is a family-owned underground utilities contractor based in Palm City, FL, serving both the public and private sectors across the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County. Job Summary As a Pipelayer, you will play a critical role in our underground utility installation projects. You will work collaboratively with the pipe crew to ensure the safe and efficient installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems while maintaining quality standards and adhering to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities Pipe Installation:
Lay, align, and join pipe for water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems according to plans, grades, and specifications.
Trenching & Shoring:
Assist in excavation by trenching and installing shoring to prepare work areas for safe pipe installation.
Material Handling:
Handle, position, and secure pipes, fittings, and related materials to ensure correct placement for installation.
Grade Work:
Read construction plans, set grades using survey and laser equipment, and verify proper alignment and slope.
Safety Compliance:
Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
Teamwork & Communication:
Collaborate effectively with the Pipe Crew Foreman, operators, and other crew members. Communicate progress, challenges, and equipment issues to supervisors promptly.
Problem Solving:
Identify and address operational challenges that may arise during underground utility installation. Requirements Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pipelayer in underground utility construction (water, sewer, and/or storm drainage). Ability to read and interpret construction plans and shoot grades using laser and survey equipment. Familiarity with trenching, shoring, and safe excavation techniques. Proficiency in operating hand tools, power tools, and related equipment safely. Strong work ethic with a commitment to safety, quality, and reliability. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Valid Florida driver's license and/or reliable transportation. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at different job sites throughout the service area. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification (Sunline will provide training for the right candidate). Experience working on FDOT or municipal public works projects. Trench Safety / Competent Person training.
