Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking Skilled tradesmen who performs the work of developing and laying out, fitting, bolting up, assembling and installing pipe when used to form a part of an assembly in connection with
SHIP CONSTRUCTION
, alteration, and repair specified by blueprints, work orders, or instructions from supervisor or management. In some cases and when the job requires assistance, a tacker-helper will assist the pipefitter. The pipefitter is responsible for building and/or repairing the complete piping systems in a metal ship. The pipefitter has the primary responsibility for manufacturing and installing interior and exterior components such as: Foundations, Hawse Pipes, Ladders, Mast, Racks, Railing, Sea Chest, Stanchions, Stowages, Tanks, Trunks, Yardarms, and Pipe spools, associated pumps, valves and other components which form the complete Ships' systems. The Pipefitter repairs and/or removes damage ship piping systems and prepares surfaces for welding, burning, and lays out holes for drilling. This work is accomplished using miscellaneous hand and power tools. The Pipefitter may also be required to perform as a roll operator, punch operator, shear operator, track burner, drill and saw operator. The Pipefitter may also have to arrange for staging, crane service, ventilation, lighting, and support services (air, electricity, and water). The above description is general in nature. A Pipefitter may be required to perform additional duties not specifically described Duties Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble piping systems and structural components.
Steel / Wire
/ MIG / TIG & stick welding: 7018 (carbon-steel), 6010, 308 (stainless-stainless), 316, 309 (Carbon-stainless) Fit and assemble pipe sections using hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, calipers, and tube bending equipment. Conduct rigging operations for lifting and positioning heavy pipe sections or structural elements safely. Use basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and layout work to ensure precise fitting. Maintain equipment such as calipers, schematics, and other measuring tools to ensure accuracy. Follow safety protocols at all times while working on construction sites or manufacturing environments. Assist with maintenance tasks related to piping systems or structural components as needed. Requirements Requires 3+ years' shipyard experience Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately. Mechanical knowledge of piping systems, HVAC systems, plumbing, rigging techniques, and ASME codes & standards. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, pipe threading equipment, calipers, soldering tools, and tube bending devices. Strong understanding of basic math for measurements and layout work. Construction site experience preferred; familiarity with manufacturing or maintenance environments is a plus. Ability to work safely in potentially hazardous environments while adhering to safety guidelines. Physical capability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions for extended periods. Valid certifications in welding or pipe fitting are advantageous but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided if necessary. Hours:
Typical working hours for Patti Marine are 40 hours per week Work that exceeds 40 hours is considered overtime A 10-minute paid morning break is taken daily A 30-minute unpaid lunch break is provided
Physical Demands:
This function primarily involves standing and walking, and carrying on a constant basis while preparing to complete the assigned job. The tacker will have to carry a 50' welding line, when coiled, can weigh up to 45 pounds. Multiple lines may need to be carried for distances within the working area. The number of times this function is performed in a given day will vary considerably; however, a typical day might involve moving to multiple work areas.
