Pipefitter Superintendent II Professional Employment Group of Colorado Indianapolis, IN Job Details $72,800 a year 9 hours ago Qualifications Outdoor work OSHA 10 High school diploma or GED Driver's License Welding repair Pipe welding Full Job Description Position Summary The Pipefitter Superintendent II is responsible for directing on-site activities, managing field crews, and ensuring the precise installation, fabrication, and repair of commercial piping and mechanical systems. This role requires strong leadership to coordinate work sequences, maintain strict safety standards, and act as a reliable liaison between project management, general contractors, and field personnel.
Responsibilities and Duties Field Installation & Fabrication:
Coordinate, layout, fit up, install, assemble, and repair commercial piping systems, including fixtures and equipment. Perform field fabrication and sweat, braze, and weld copper systems.
Project Scheduling & Adjustments:
Plan work sequences and make real-time adjustments to meet construction schedules, utilizing knowledge of equipment and crew capacities.
Resource & Material Management:
Manage materials to ensure optimal consumption and timely completion of scheduled work. Plan job tasks to maximize the efficiency of assigned manpower.
Blueprint & Spec Interpretation:
Read, interpret, and work directly from blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
Quality & Compliance:
Inspect work-in-progress and completed installations to ensure strict conformance to contracts, codes, and specifications. Walk the site to identify and correct punch-list items.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Serve as an on-site coach and mentor to field crews and lower-echelon installers to help them develop technical skills and improve overall trade knowledge.
Communication & Collaboration:
Keep Project Managers and General Superintendents fully informed of production updates, material statuses, or scheduling challenges. Attend all required job site and progress meetings.
Safety & Tools:
Maintain a safe workspace, install necessary hangers or supports, and oversee safe tool and equipment utilization. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated commercial experience in pipefitting, welding, and field plumbing operations.
Work History:
Must demonstrate a stable, reliable employment history.
Training:
Prior fabrication shop experience is a plus; completion of a formal trade apprenticeship program is highly preferred. Job Skills & Knowledge Advanced blueprint reading and complete understanding of commercial plumbing/piping installation. Ability to independently handle material take-offs and fabricate offsets. Strong working knowledge of all trade hand/power tools and the ability to operate heavy job site machinery. Practical mathematical skills with the ability to work within precise limits and high standards of accuracy. Education & Certifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Trade School background is a major plus). Minimum of 150 hours completed in pipe welding courses. Valid Driver's License. OSHA 10-Hour Certification (OSHA 30 preferred). State Journeyman's Trade License (where required). Willingness to obtain additional trade licenses or relevant certifications as required by the project. Physical Requirements Eyesight correctable to 20/50. Ability to work long hours standing on feet and adapt to rotating shift work schedules. Comfortable working at elevated heights and climbing ladders or scaffolding safely. Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 60 lbs. Must be able to work outdoors comfortably across various seasonal weather conditions. Must provide personal, industry-standard basic hand tools. #peg1
