Experienced Oiler - Dredge Wallace McGeorge PBSGC Marine Group Baton Rouge, LA Job Details Full-time 20 hours ago Benefits Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications High school diploma or GED Live-in employment Driver's License Full Job Description PBSG is looking for a dynamic person to join our team as an experienced oiler with engineer skills that is willing to work on the navigable waterways of the Mississippi Valley. The ideal candidate will be responsible for cleaning, chipping, painting, work from heights greater than 6ft, Preventive maintenance (PM) in the engine room along with assist vessels, and inventory of spare parts. A minimum of two years' experience working in a marine environment is required. Perform general labor type work onboard a live aboard dredge. Position will consist of severe duty marine conditions including inclement weather (snow, ice, extreme heat, rain, fog, etc.). Responsibilities:
can include but are not limited to: Responsible for housekeeping in the engine room. Chipping and painting. Working from heights greater than 6ft. Diagnose & PM of gasoline and diesel engines. Diagnose & PM of hydraulic systems. Diagnose & PM of HVAC systems. Diagnose & PM of PLC (low voltage of electronics) Workings knowledge of pneumatic and electrical tools. Basic working knowledge of Welding Basic working knowledge of plumbing. Basic working knowledge of electricity. Completing daily engine logs. Inventory spare parts. Assist in fuel transfers. Must maintain the highest level of safety in all aspects of the job Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices, identifies and corrects job site hazards immediately. Qualifications Minimum of two years' experience working in a marine environment on the Mississippi River and tributaries. Knowledge of marine duties and safety procedures, CPR, First
AID, CPR, AED
training beneficial but not required. PBSG will assist in obtaining this certification. Boaters Education Certificate beneficial but not required. PBSG will assist in obtaining this certification.
Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. High School Diploma or equivalent. Must meet 4 of the 7 following requirements: Minimum 2 years' experience chipping and painting marine vessels. Minimum 2 years' experience welding. Minimum 2 years' experience in electrical. Minimum 2 years' experience in plumbing. Minimum 2 years' experience in Diagnosing & PM on gasoline and diesel engines. Minimum 2 years' experience in Diagnosing & PM on HVAC systems. Minimum 2 years' experience in Diagnosing & PM of PLC (low voltage of electronics) Willing to live onboard the dredge for two weeks on and one week off. Do you have the ability and willingness to work 12 hours per day 84 hours per week? Must complete and be deemed Fit for Duty a Functional Capacity Exam (FCU). Flexibility and willingness to work extended shift or hours as work and conditions require Ability and willingness to do manual labor including lifting items up to 76 pounds Must be comfortable working over and adjacent to water Ability to swim. Must have reliable transportation to and from job location. Willingness to live with crew members Willingness to work during days or nights.
