Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking a reliable, hardworking Pipe Layer / Skilled Laborer to join our field crew. In this role, you will work hand-in-hand with heavy equipment operators to install underground utilities including watermains, storm sewers, and sanitary sewer systems.
Key Responsibilities Utility Installation:
Lay, align, and position sections of PVC, concrete, or ductile iron pipe for shallow and deep sewer/watermain systems.
Grade Checking:
Use laser levels, transit levels, and grade rods to ensure precise trench depth and pipe slope orientation.
Equipment Support:
Assist heavy equipment operators by rigging pipes, guiding excavation, and signaling from the ground.
Trench Safety:
Strictly adhere to OSHA safety standards, ensuring proper utilization of trench boxes, shoring, and PPE.
Site Prep & Maintenance:
Hand-shoveling, bedding pipe with aggregate, compacting backfill material, and maintaining a clean, safe job site.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
2+ years of hands-on experience in underground utility construction and pipelaying.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs regularly, work on your feet in various weather conditions (heat, cold, mud, rain), and navigate uneven terrain.
Technical Knowledge:
Ability to read blueprints/civil plans and experience using pipe lasers is a major plus.
Reliability:
Valid driver's license and dependable transportation to travel to various job sites around West Michigan.
