Pipe Fitter Job Description Work on renovation projects, focusing on copper piping systems and related plumbing and fitting work for large institutional facilities. Perform the installation, repair, and modification of mechanical piping using primarily ProPress systems, ensuring high-quality workmanship, adherence to blueprints, and compliance with project specifications. Responsibilities Install, modify, and repair copper piping systems, including copper risers, using ProPress and related fitting methods. Read, interpret, and work from construction blueprints and mechanical drawings to plan and execute piping layouts and installations. Perform plumbing and fitting installations, including cast iron, copper, and other piping materials, using appropriate tools and techniques. Use ProPress tools, hand tools, and threading equipment to assemble and secure piping systems safely and efficiently. Conduct soldering and brazing work on piping systems as required for industrial and commercial applications. Inspect existing piping and plumbing systems during renovations, identify issues, and implement effective repair or replacement solutions. Ensure all installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements for mechanical and plumbing systems. Promote and enforce safe work practices on site, including proper use of tools and equipment and adherence to safety guidelines. Train and mentor less experienced team members in proper installation techniques, blueprint reading, and safe work procedures. Document work completed, communicate progress to project leadership, and assist in planning upcoming phases of installation. Essential Skills Proven plumbing and pipe fitting experience in construction or mechanical environments. Hands-on experience installing and working with copper piping systems, including copper risers. Proficiency with ProPress systems and related installation techniques. Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and mechanical drawings. Skilled in plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance for commercial or institutional projects. Experience with cast iron piping installation and related fitting methods. Competence in soldering and brazing for industrial piping applications. Proficiency using hand tools and piping tools, including threading equipment, in a construction setting. Ability to plan and execute piping layouts and installations in renovation environments. Solid understanding of piping, plumbing, and mechanical system standards and best practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on large institutional or university renovation projects. Experience in industrial piping installations and upgrades. Comfort working in active or partially occupied facilities during remodels. Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple trades and project stakeholders.
