Job Description

Experienced Pipelayer - Water, Sewer & Utilities (Full-Time) American Excavating Corp. Read This First We are not looking for a "helper" who wants to learn pipe. We are looking for a real pipelayer —someone who knows how to get pipe in the ground correctly, efficiently, and safely . If you've never set grade, worked off a laser, or laid water/sewer main, this is not the position for you. About the Role American Excavating Corp. is hiring an Experienced Pipelayer to work on water main, sewer, drainage, and underground utility projects. You will be a key part of the crew—working directly with operators and foremen to set pipe, hold grade, and keep production moving . We are a company where you can move up to: Pipe Foreman Equipment Operator Superintendent What You'll Be Doing Lay and install water main, sewer, drainage, and utility conduit Work from pipe lasers, grades, and plans to maintain proper line and elevation Set pipe to grade —not "close enough" Prepare trenches, bedding, and backfill correctly Direct operators during excavation and placement Cut, measure, and assemble pipe (PVC, ductile iron, HDPE, etc.) Install fittings, valves, hydrants, and structures Ensure all work meets specs, plans, and inspection requirements Maintain a clean, safe, and productive jobsite What We Expect You know how to read plans and understand grades You are comfortable working with lasers and layout You take pride in tight, accurate pipe work You can work in trenches and all weather conditions You show up every day and pull your weight This is still physical work —including time on a shovel when needed. If you're above that, this isn't the crew for you. Required Experience Proven experience as a pipelayer in excavation/utility work Strong understanding of water, sewer, drainage, and utility installation Ability to read and interpret plans and elevations Experience working with pipe lasers and grade control Familiarity with trench safety and jobsite standards What You Get Competitive pay based on experience Steady, year-round work Work on real infrastructure projects (not small residential jobs) Opportunity to move into Foreman or higher leadership roles A crew that knows what they're doing and expects the same Who This Job Is For A pipelayer who takes pride in doing it right the first time Someone who wants to be part of a productive, professional crew Someone who understands that quality and production both matter Apply If You're the Real Deal If you're an experienced pipelayer who can hold grade, work hard, and contribute to a strong crew—we want to talk to you.
