This is not a maintenance contract sales role. We are looking for someone who understands how to identify, develop, estimate, and close large-scale fire sprinkler installation and retrofit projects within occupied commercial buildings, high-rises, mixed-use properties, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, and Class A commercial real estate environments throughout NYC. The ideal candidate has experience selling fire sprinkler construction, retrofit, modernization, or other building systems capital projects and is comfortable walking mechanical spaces, reviewing drawings, identifying code-driven deficiencies, and building long-term customer relationships with property managers, ownership groups, facility leaders, and general contractors. If you have sold sprinkler retrofits, HVAC capital projects, elevator modernization, mechanical construction, or building infrastructure upgrades in the NYC market — we want to talk to you. What You'll Do Identify and develop fire sprinkler retrofit, modernization, and installation opportunities throughout the NYC market Conduct on-site building surveys and identify code-driven upgrade opportunities Develop estimates, scopes of work, bid packages, and professional proposals for capital improvement projects Sell sprinkler system replacements, tenant fit-outs, system expansions, standpipe upgrades, pump replacements, and compliance-driven retrofit work Build strong relationships with property managers, facility directors, consultants, engineers, ownership groups, and general contractors Develop long-term capital planning strategies for customers Drive business development activity through prospecting, networking, referrals, and relationship management Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through project turnover Coordinate closely with operations, estimating, engineering, and field teams to ensure successful project execution Maintain accurate pipeline forecasting, CRM activity, and project tracking Ideal Background Fire sprinkler retrofit sales Fire protection construction sales Sprinkler installation estimating Mechanical/HVAC capital project sales Elevator modernization sales Commercial construction sales Building infrastructure upgrades NYC Local Law compliance project sales Tenant improvement and fit-out project sales What We're Looking For 3+ years of experience selling fire sprinkler installation, retrofit, modernization, or capital improvement projects Strong understanding of commercial fire sprinkler systems, construction processes, and code compliance Ability to conduct field surveys and identify project opportunities Experience reviewing blueprints, drawings, specifications, and bid documents Proven ability to develop estimates and project proposals Existing relationships within the NYC commercial real estate and construction market highly preferred Strong hunter mentality with the ability to build long-term accounts Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing a large territory Excellent communication and negotiation skills Preferred Experience NFPA knowledge Familiarity with NYC DOB and FDNY requirements Experience with high-rise commercial buildings and occupied-space construction Understanding of Local Law-driven upgrades and compliance requirements Experience selling to: Property management companies REITs General contractors Facility management groups Building ownership groups Healthcare and institutional facilities Why Join Relay Fire & Safety?
