Job Description

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description A Trades Generalist performs journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Incumbents may supervise others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities. A Trades Generalist uses the hand tools, portable power tools, shop equipment and measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the craft or crafts to which assigned. Working knowledge of methods, material, tools and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which assigned. Working knowledge of applicable standards and plumbing and electrical code regulations. Ability to use the tools, machines, equipment and material of the craft or crafts to which assigned. Ability to train and supervise others. Ability to plan and lay out work and diagnose problems. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Typical work to include, dock and boardwalk building, trail construction, kiosk and trail structures construction/repairs, building construction/repairs, electrical installations/repairs, plumbing installations/repairs, fence and gate installations/repairs, concrete walk construction, drywall installation and finishing, interior and exterior building painting, snow removal and landscaping. Class A CDL with no air brake restrictions must be obtained within 12 months of appointment. The incumbent will operate multiple CMV's. Responsibilities include but not limited to transporting equipment and materials to and from work sites. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled trades-person which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must provide 24-hour response on a rotational basis and work during normal business hours. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
