Fire Watch/Confined Space Attendant

Wage:

$25.00 - $30.00/hour Position Summary The Fire Watcher / Confined Space Attendant is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment during hot work activities and confined space operations. This role monitors workers, identifies potential hazards, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and responds appropriately in emergency situations. The position requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Monitor hot work activities including welding, cutting, grinding, and torch operations. Watch for fire hazards and immediately respond to unsafe conditions. Maintain fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment in the work area. Ensure proper permits are obtained and followed for hot work and confined space entry. General construction labor duties, including moving materials, site cleanup, utilizing water hoses, sweeping, shoving, etc.. Serve as the confined space attendant during entry operations. Maintain continuous communication with personnel inside confined spaces. Monitor atmospheric testing equipment and ensure safe oxygen and gas levels. Prevent unauthorized personnel from entering confined spaces. Initiate emergency response procedures if needed. Conduct safety inspections and report hazards or incidents to supervision. Ensure compliance with OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirements. Maintain accurate logs, permits, and documentation related to confined space and fire watch activities. Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training.

Job Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous construction, industrial, or manufacturing safety experience preferred. Knowledge of confined space entry procedures and hot work safety requirements. Ability to recognize hazardous conditions and respond quickly. Strong communication and situational awareness skills. Ability to stand for 8-12 hours a day. Ability to work independently and remain alert for extended periods. Must be able to work overtime, nights, weekends, or travel if required.

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
