Certification Full Job Description The pipefitter will lay out, assemble, install, or maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, or related hydraulic or pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, or industrial production or processing systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, or related equipment, according to blueprints Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods Secures pipe to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools Perform daily maintenance and safety checks Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company's safety culture Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED required At least 3 to 5 years' experience as a pipefitter NCCER for pipefitter
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings Excellent verbal and written communication skills Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments - results oriented Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another Ability to operate job related tools Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help Bay Ltd. is an Equal Opportunity Employer
