Norfolk, VA Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced 1st Class Pipefitter to join our team in Norfolk, VA. This role involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of piping systems in a shipyard/industrial environment. Candidates must demonstrate advanced pipefitting skills, strong blueprint interpretation, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles using hand and power tools. Install, assemble, and secure pipes, valves, fittings, and related equipment. Perform hydrostatic and pressure testing of piping systems. Inspect systems for leaks and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Repair and replace damaged or defective piping components. Collaborate with supervisors and other trades to complete projects efficiently. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and company policies.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-4 years of experience as a pipefitter in shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial environments. Proven ability to work as a 1st Class Pipefitter with minimal supervision. Strong knowledge of pipe systems, materials, and installation techniques. Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings. Proficient with pipefitting tools and equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Requirements:
Must be eligible for DBIDS (Defense Biometric Identification System) access. Local candidates only (Norfolk, VA, and surrounding areas) Must be able to pass background screening and any required site clearances. Reliable transportation to the job site.
Pay:
