Starting at $24.00+ per hour (Based on verifiable experience)
Job Type:
Full-time About the Role MMI Utility Construction is seeking Mid-Level to Skilled Operators to join our Huntsville team. We are looking for precision-focused professionals who are proficient in underground utility installation or have extensive experience operating heavy excavation equipment in complex environments. Key Responsibilities
    Equipment Operation:
    Experience in standard-size excavators, mini-excavators, directional drills, auger bore, Hydrovacs and any other equipment or combination of for trenching and excavation.
      Utility Locating:
      Experience in using a locator to identify and verify underground lines before and during digging to ensure zero strikes. (Potholing)
      • Concrete / Asphalt l
      Cutting:
      Proficiently use a demo saw for asphalt, concrete, or pipe cutting as required by the project.
        Site Safety:
        Perform precision potholing and digging around "live" utility lines (Water, Sewer, Gas, Electric, and Telecom).
          Equipment Care:
          Conduct daily inspections and basic maintenance on all assigned Machinery. Qualifications & Experience
            Proven Experience:
            2-5 years of professional experience in underground utility Construction (water, gas, telecom, power, waste water) OR 2-5 years of experience operating excavators and similar heavy (site development, etc.) equipment in other construction sectors.
              Machine Proficiency:
              Expertise in at least one of the following: Directional Drill (Boring), Excavator (all sizes), or Hydrovac.
                Skillset:
                Must be comfortable and experienced in high-stakes digging near existing Infrastructure. Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory)
                • CDL Class A or B
                • Current DOT Medical Card
                • OSHA 10 or 30 Safety Training Mandatory Driving & Safety Requirements We perform a high volume of government contract work, and our insurance requires strict driver eligibility. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be checked every 6 months . You are considered "Prohibited" and should not apply if you have any of the following on your record from the past 5 years :
                DUI/DWI:
                One or more convictions within the last 5 years.
                  Moving Violations:
                  3 or more moving violations (including speeding tickets).
                    Accidents:
                    2 or more accidents.
                      Combined Record:
                      A combination of 2 moving violations and 1 or more accidents. Other Requirements
                        Drug Test:
                        Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
                          Reliability:
                          Daily commute to our Huntsville yard by 6:30 AM.
                            Physicality:
                            Ability to lift 80 lbs. and work outdoors in all Alabama weather conditions.
                              Hiring Process:
                              Candidates must complete an initial interview, followed by a Second Interview which includes an in-person skills assessment. Benefits
