Utility Technician II - Lake Texana Pipeline O & M City of Corpus Christi - 3.5 Corpus Christi, TX Job Details Full-time $17.80 - $29.17 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Confined Space Certification Full Job Description Overview This position performs essential functions of Utility Technician II. The incumbent safely performs grounds and mechanical maintenance as assigned. The Lake Texana (Mary Rhodes) Pipeline is a 101-mile 64" pipeline with one intake station and two booster stations. This role works in a location that is operational 24hrs/day and currently providing 72 million gallons of water daily. Responsibilities Monitors and records temperatures of water pump packing and electrical motors, promptly notifying the supervisor of any irregularities to ensure timely corrective action Assists with line location of water lines by gathering any information that can directly or indirectly impact the system Works with outside companies by contacting them and requesting any additional information such as boring profiles, depths, methods and dates that will help to ensure the line location is accurate Performs data entry of Maximo and SCADA readings and helps to identify potential issues from gathered data Provides recommendation on those findings to supervisor to take corrective action
- Requires extensive travel between locations along the pipeline to perform job duties Maintains assigned city vehicles in proper working conditions, providing timely updates to the supervisor when additional maintenance or service is required Assists with mowing of the right of way with contractors Develops schedule and navigating contractors in the process to locations Assists with start-up of pump stations in the event of emergency Develops an understanding of the operational needs to get the restoration of service as quickly and safety as possible Position Type and Typical Hours of Work Non-Exempt - Full-Time - 40-hour work week • Must be available to work additional hours as needed • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
- High School Diploma/GED
- One (1) year of experience Licenses and Certifications Required
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring Required within six (6) months of hire
- TCEQ Class D Water license Required within one (1) year of hire
- Confined space certification Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:
