Pipeline Controller Chevron - 4.0 Houston, TX Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Customer service Decision making Conflict management Full Job Description Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Pipeline Controller through 05/05/2026 at 11:59 p.m. (CST) located at Houston, TX. Chevron relies on pipeline controllers to manage remote operation of pipeline systems to meet our OE expectations and daily commodity transportation commitments. The controller must balance high level surveillance of multiple pipeline systems with in-depth analysis of site-specific real-time data through a SCADA system in order to maintain the individual and collective integrity of the pipeline system(s). The controller must demonstrate the ability to recognize, analyze and respond to abnormal conditions in a timely manner to minimize potential negative impact to people and the environment as well as reduce the liability of the company. Assure the accurate, efficient and on time movement of commodities to and from designated locations as scheduled. Remotely control and operate field equipment via SCADA to initiate, terminate and re-direct commodity movements as defined by the pipeline schedule. Monitor and provide real-time surveillance of the pipeline systems, by whatever means available, to maintain knowledge of the current operational conditions of the pipeline, equipment, instrumentation, and communications. Additionally, includes monitoring of: Commodity quality Volumetric balancing ETA's to pipe intersections and delivery/receipt locations. Maintain contact with Field and Control Center personnel so as to be able to leverage support and assistance as needed. Maintain and review a periodic record of SCADA data on the measurement and operations activities of the pipeline system(s). Non-SCADA data that is communicated is also recorded and stored. Maintain a daily shift record of noteworthy events (Console Log) as it relates to console and field pipeline activities. Recognize and respond to abnormal conditions on the pipeline system(s) through immediate SCADA control capabilities if available and/or through notification of company personnel in an effort to mitigate the potential negative impact of the event. Recognize and respond to Emergency conditions on the pipeline system(s) through immediate SCADA control capabilities and through notification of company personnel in an effort to mitigate the magnitude the potential negative impact of the event. Prepare and enter equipment malfunction information in SAP-PM as well as provide immediate notification to support personnel as appropriate. Participate in, and initiate when appropriate, Incident Investigations and Near-Loss Investigations. Record Pipeline System slowdowns and downtime in the Pipeline Downtime Log. Maintain required training (Operator Qualification).
Required Qualifications:
Must pass the COBRA test Willingness to work in a 24/7 environment on a 12 hour rotating shift schedule Ability to think quickly and timely to make quick decisions in critical situations (i.e. ability to mitigate the potential negative impact of events that are disruptive to our business such as spills and leaks) Required commitment to the controller role for three years after qualification. Demonstrated professional work experience in a customer service environment, specifically with issue and conflict resolution Willingness and ability to pass "Fit for Duty" requirements, which includes a visual color perception test, associated with the assigned job task Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently Demonstrated problem solving experience Experience working in a team environment
Special Considerations :
This role is not eligible for expatriate assignment. Global Offshore Payroll applicants must be able to use current US work authorization or otherwise able to obtain work authorization within 4 months of initiation of immigration activities.
