Job Title:
Oily Residuals Process Operator Job Description This role operates and maintains oily residuals processing systems to safely treat, separate, and dispose of oily waste, sludge, and water in an industrial plant environment. You monitor separation equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations while working rotating 12-hour shifts in outdoor conditions. Responsibilities Operate oily residuals processing equipment to manage the treatment, separation, and disposal of oily waste, sludge, and water in accordance with established procedures. Monitor separation equipment and system performance, including gauges, controls, and instrumentation, to ensure efficient and safe operation. Adjust system parameters as needed to maintain optimal process conditions and product quality. Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on equipment to prevent downtime and ensure reliable operation. Handle hazardous materials safely, following all HSE guidelines, plant rules, and regulatory requirements. Document operating conditions, maintenance activities, and any incidents or abnormalities in accordance with site procedures. Collaborate with other operators and maintenance personnel on shift to coordinate activities and maintain smooth operations. Work safely at heights and in outdoor conditions, including adverse weather, while adhering to all safety protocols. Participate in and comply with pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing programs administered through Disa. Essential Skills Active Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Ability to pass and maintain compliance with Disa drug and alcohol testing, including hair follicle and urine testing, with a Disa score of 2 or below. Experience or background in maintenance within an industrial or processing environment. Ability to work safely at heights and in outdoor industrial conditions. Willingness and ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (8 days on, 4 days off) on days, nights, and weekends. Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices and the ability to follow safety procedures consistently. Capability to handle hazardous materials safely and in compliance with regulations. Ability to monitor and adjust process equipment and system parameters with attention to detail. Reliable attendance and adherence to all site access and security requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a process operator or in oily residuals, waste, or sludge treatment operations. Hands-on experience working in an industrial plant or refinery environment. Familiarity with separation equipment and related mechanical systems. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with a small crew on rotating shifts. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based at a large industrial plant in Port Arthur, Texas, operating within an outdoor processing facility. You work primarily outside in all weather conditions, including rain and shine, and must be comfortable working at heights as part of routine duties. The schedule follows a rotating pattern of 8 days on and 4 days off, with 12-hour shifts starting at 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including day, night, and weekend coverage. You work as part of a small team of approximately 3-5 people per shift, coordinating closely to manage operations safely and efficiently. The environment follows strict HSE and site access requirements, including the need for a TWIC card and compliance with Disa-administered drug and alcohol testing programs. A clean-shaven face may be required to ensure proper fit and seal of safety equipment such as respirators. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Arthur, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
